U.S. and Iraqi forces are battling a Sunni Arab insurgency against the Shi'ite and Kurdish-led government in Baghdad. * indicates new or updated item. * RAMADI - A U.S. Marine 'Super Cobra' helicopter crashed in Ramadi, 110 km (70 miles) west of Baghdad, killing its two-man crew, the military said. The cause of the crash was unknown. * FALLUJA - One Iraqi soldier was killed and four others wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near their patrol in Falluja, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad, police said. Two civilians were killed in subsequent shooting. * BAGHDAD - One policeman was killed and five wounded when their patrol was attacked in southern Baghdad, police said. * KHASIM - Iraqi police said they retrieved a body from a river in the small town of Khasim, near Hilla, south of Baghdad. The body was identified as that of a senior member of the city council of Khasim who was abducted three days ago.

HUSAYBA - The U.S. military said it conducted air strikes on three al Qaeda safe houses in western Iraq, killing a 'terror leader' suspected of helping smuggle foreign fighters from Syria into Iraq. The military said it had information that in total six insurgents were killed in the air strikes.

BAGHDAD - Five Iraqi soldiers were killed and four wounded when a roadside bomb went off near their patrol in the southeastern district of Baghdad, police said. * BAGHDAD - Five civilians were killed and several more wounded when a roadside bomb hit a van on the outskirts of Baghdad, police said and the U.S. military said.
